Infrared sauna cocoon with salt therapy in Calgary
The infrared cocoon wellness pod is a cushioned, full-body private chamber that combines full-spectrum infrared heat (near, mid and far), red light therapy, vibration massage, aromatherapy and Himalayan salt air in one session. The first of its kind in Calgary, it is used for stress relief, better sleep, reduced inflammation, muscle recovery and skin rejuvenation, and it is included free with the new client massage special and every Full BodyTox. It is booked on its own or added to any treatment at Renu, rather than delivered by one particular practitioner.

How the cocoon pod works
Infrared feels like a dry sauna but heats the body directly rather than the air, creating a gentle cardiovascular workout while you lie still. That produces the effects a sauna is valued for, sweating, skin rejuvenation, detoxification, muscle recovery and reduced inflammation, in a relaxed, private environment. Practitioners around the world incorporate infrared and red light to relieve pain, help skin conditions, increase flexibility and support chronic conditions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia.
Want a more active session? The pod’s FIIT program adds resistance bands and guided four, six and eight-minute workouts to tone, sculpt and detox.
Salt therapy
The pod circulates Himalayan salt air, purifying and refreshing what you breathe for a cleansing, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory effect that many people with bronchitis, sinusitis, seasonal allergies and upper respiratory conditions find helpful. Himalayan salt also produces negative ions associated with immune support, reduced fatigue and relief from chronic stress.

What a session can help with
After each session most people leave relaxed and renewed, with noticeable improvement in the aches and discomfort they came in with.
- Chronic pain: arthritis, fibromyalgia, bursitis and chronic fatigue syndrome
- Relaxation: switch off, nap, and wake refreshed in body and mind
- Sports recovery: full-spectrum infrared promotes muscle recovery and relieves inflammation and muscle aches
- Mental acuity and mood: each session encourages the release of the brain’s feel-good chemicals, easing stress and anxiety

Client reviews
In their words
“I have finally found a skillful and knowledgeable massage therapist in Calgary that does a fantastic lymphatic drainage! Meeghan is a treasure of a human being. Not only did I get a wonderful treatment, I also got to experience the infrared pod afterwards, which was delightfully recharging. The spa is beautiful and tastefully decorated, the space is calm and inviting. I enjoyed the nice attention to details like warm towels, soft bathrobe, warm tea after treatment and perfectly curated music at a pleasant volume in every room.”

Questions and guides about infrared sauna cocoon
AnswersCan I get a massage after drinking alcohol? Not if you still feel the drinks. Alcohol dulls the feedback that keeps pressure safe, dehydrates you and adds to post-massage wobbliness. Hangovers too.
AnswersDo I need to drink extra water after a massage?Massage does not flush toxins, so you do not need to drink litres afterwards. Normal hydration, especially before, is what prevents a headache.
AnswersDoes massage help sore muscles after exercise?Yes, modestly. A meta-analysis of eleven trials found massage lowered post-exercise soreness at 24, 48 and 72 hours. It eases the ache, not the recovery.
AnswersHow soon after a race or hard workout can I get a massage? If you are used to massage, a recovery session within 48 hours of a race is fine. If you are new to it, wait three to four days until the soreness eases.
Pregnancy & postpartumInsomnia in pregnancyInsomnia affects about four in ten women in the third trimester. What helps: side-lying with pillows, evening habits, and what massage trials showed.
AnswersWhat should I do after a deep tissue massage? After a deep tissue massage: drink normally, eat something light, use heat or cold on sore spots, stretch gently, and leave the hard workout until tomorrow.
Is the infrared pod the same as a traditional sauna?
No. A traditional sauna heats the air; infrared heats the body directly at a lower ambient temperature, so it feels gentler while still producing a deep sweat. The pod adds red light, salt air, aromatherapy and vibration massage in a private chamber.
How long is a session?
Complimentary and add-on sessions are 20 minutes. Call ahead to reserve the pod with your massage; spots are limited.
Can I use the pod after lymphatic drainage?
Yes. It is designed as an add-on to lymphatic treatments for additional detox and recovery, and is included with every Full BodyTox.
