RAPID NeuroFascial Reset in West Hillhurst
RAPID NeuroFascial Reset is a focused, hands-on treatment that pairs precise pressure with guided movement to calm the nervous system and ease pain, tension and restricted movement. At Renu it is delivered by Monica, RMT, for upper body concerns: the neck, shoulders, upper back, arms, wrists and hands. Sessions are 30 or 45 minutes and you receive an RMT receipt.
Pain is not always about tight muscles
Your body can keep guarding an old injury long after the tissue has healed. RAPID uses specific pressure while you make small, guided movements, giving your nervous system a clear signal that it is safe to let go of that protective holding.
It is an evidence-informed technique taught to licensed manual therapists, and it suits both recent injuries and long-standing pain that has not shifted with other care.

Upper body concerns, for now
Monica currently treats the neck, shoulders, upper back, arms, wrists and hands. If your pain is in your low back, hips, knees or feet, call us and we will point you to the right therapist on our team.
- Headache-related tension

- Shoulder pain and frozen shoulder
- Upper back and rib tension
- Tennis and golfer’s elbow
- Carpal tunnel, wrist and hand discomfort
- Limited range of motion in the neck or arm
What to expect, start to finish
A RAPID session is short and active. Here is how a visit with Monica unfolds.
- Before your visit: complete your intake form, including any recent surgery, injuries or medications. Wear something that leaves your neck and shoulders easy to reach, such as a tank top.
- Assessment: Monica listens to your history, checks how you move and feels for the areas that are sensitive or restricted, so treatment goes straight to the source.
- Treatment: she holds specific pressure while guiding you through small movements. It can feel intense for a few seconds at a time. You set the pressure, and she adjusts whenever you ask.
- Aftercare: drink water, keep moving gently and expect some tenderness for a day or two. Monica will send you home with simple exercises and a plan for your next visit.

Questions and guides about RAPID
AnswersCan a massage damage a nerve?Rarely, and rarely seriously. Tingling or a zing during a massage is a nerve warning, not an injury. Where nerves sit exposed and what irritation is.
AnswersCan I get a massage with a pulled muscle? Not on the injury in the first few days. A pulled muscle is a tear; early on the job is rest, ice and gentle movement. Massage starts around it, then on it.
AnswersCan massage break up muscle knots?Massage does not break anything up, because a muscle knot is not a lump to crush. It is a patch of muscle that will not relax, and massage helps it let go.
AnswersCan massage make neck pain worse?Massage can leave a neck sorer for a day or two, and its benefit is mostly short term. How to tell a normal flare from the rare signs of harm.
Self-careDesk set-up for neck and shoulder pain: a ten-minute fixKnees at or below the hips, lumbar support in the low back, elbows at 90 degrees by your sides, screen an arm away and below eye level, up every 50 minutes.
AnswersDoes deep tissue massage have to hurt to work? No. Deep tissue massage does not have to hurt to be useful. A strong but welcome ache is fine; sharp, electric or bracing pain means ease the pressure.
How is RAPID different from massage?
Massage works over the whole body in a longer session. RAPID is targeted: Monica finds the specific areas your nervous system is guarding and uses pressure with movement to reset them. Sessions are shorter, and you take an active part in the treatment.
Does it hurt?
It can be uncomfortable in short bursts of a few seconds while you move. You set the limit, and Monica adjusts the pressure whenever you ask.
Does Monica treat lower body pain?
Not yet. Monica currently treats the neck, shoulders, upper back, arms, wrists and hands. For low back, hip, knee or foot pain, call us at 403-270-2111 and we will help you find the right therapist on our team.
Which session length should I book?
Choose 30 min ($85) for one specific concern, such as a stiff shoulder. Choose 45 min ($110) if you have more than one area to address or are coming in for the first time with a longer history.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what is going on and how long you have had it. Many people notice a change in pain or range of motion early. After your first visit, Monica gives you an honest plan rather than a set package.
Is it covered by my benefits?
Monica provides RAPID as a Registered Massage Therapist, so you receive an RMT receipt. Most extended health plans cover RMT services; check your plan for limits or whether a doctor’s note is required.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed to book. Some insurance plans ask for one before they reimburse, so it is worth checking with your provider.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing you can move in. A tank top or sports bra lets Monica reach your neck, shoulders and arms.
Will I be sore afterward?
Some tenderness for a day or two is normal, similar to after a workout. Gentle movement and water help. If anything feels off, call us.
Is RAPID right for me?
It suits most people with upper body pain or stiffness, whether it started last week or years ago. Note any recent surgery, fractures, blood thinners or medical conditions on your intake form, and Monica will confirm it is a safe fit.
Can I combine RAPID with other treatments at Renu?
Yes. RAPID pairs well with massage therapy and acupuncture. Ask our front desk and we will help you plan what fits your goals.
