Full-body lymphatic drainage massage in Calgary

Full-body lymphatic drainage massage in Calgary: the 90-minute Full BodyTox ($315) with vacuum RF and a 20-minute infrared session, and how it compares.

By The Renu lymphatic and massage team · 5 min read

For a full-body lymphatic drainage massage aimed at bloating, heaviness and a lighter, more contoured feel, Renu's option is the Full BodyTox: 90 minutes for $315 at BodyTox by Renu. It covers the arms, legs, tummy and face with Brazilian lymphatic drainage, adds back cupping, vacuum RF therapy and a 20-minute infrared cocoon session, and is offered by Aisha Mendes, Meeghan Mackenzie and Sasha Bernard. It moves fluid, not fat, so any slimmer look reflects less fluid retention rather than fat loss.

A full-body lymphatic drainage massage treats the arms, legs, abdomen and often the face in one session, rather than one swollen area. At Renu the full-body option for de-bloating and contouring is the Full BodyTox, a 90-minute Brazilian lymphatic drainage treatment at BodyTox by Renu, our lymphatic body studio inside the clinic. This page helps you decide whether it is the right full-body booking for you, what it costs, who delivers it, and how to read the words “detox” and “sculpting” honestly.

What the Full BodyTox includes

The Full BodyTox is 90 minutes for $315. It is built in layers:

  • Brazilian lymphatic drainage of the arms, legs, tummy and face. Firmer and faster than classic clinical drainage, done in the Detox By Rebecca method, which its creator Rebecca Faria describes as specialized strokes, pace and pressure.
  • Cupping of the back, with the option of a back massage.
  • Vacuum RF therapy, which we use to soften connective tissue and support skin elasticity. Our answer on what vacuum RF does in BodyTox explains it.
  • A 20-minute infrared cocoon session, included in the price.
  • A complimentary gift with your first Full BodyTox.

The Full BodyTox is offered by Aisha Mendes (licensed esthetician, CIDESCO Diploma, Certified Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Practitioner), Meeghan Mackenzie (our founder, RMT and Certified Lymphedema Therapist) and Sasha Bernard (RMT and lymphatic therapist). You can book any of them by name online through Jane.

Is it the right full-body booking for you

“Full-body lymphatic drainage” can mean very different treatments, and the right one depends on why you want it. Here is how the Full BodyTox sits next to the other whole-body options at Renu.

If your goal is Consider Length and price
De-bloating, contouring, feeling lighter before an event Full BodyTox 90 min, $315 (infrared included)
The same plus a facial Brazilian Lymphatic Drift 90 min, $245
Just the abdomen TummyTox 45 min, $225
Gentle clinical drainage for swelling, lymphedema or general wellbeing Classic lymphatic drainage massage 60 min, $130
Swelling after surgery Post-op lymphatic drainage 30 to 90 min, from $105

A few honest pointers:

  • The Full BodyTox is a body-contouring and de-bloating treatment. It is not the choice for lymphedema, lipedema or early post-surgical swelling, where a lighter clinical technique and a Certified Lymphedema Therapist matter more.
  • The Brazilian Lymphatic Drift with Aisha combines full-body Brazilian work with the Drift & Drain facial. It does not include the infrared session. See Brazilian Lymphatic Drift in Calgary.
  • If the tummy is the only area that bothers you, TummyTox is half the time.

What “detox” and “sculpting” really mean

These words are used everywhere in Brazilian lymphatic marketing, including on the Detox By Rebecca site, which describes eliminating toxins and excess water weight and sculpting the silhouette. We want you to know what is underneath them.

Lymphatic drainage moves lymph, the fluid that collects between cells, back toward the lymph nodes. Cleveland Clinic lists reduced fluid retention, stress management and improved skin appearance among the reasons people use it. When that fluid shifts, the body can look and feel less puffy, clothes may fit differently for a while, and many clients notice a slimmer, lighter feeling after a session. That is the “sculpting”.

What it does not do is remove fat. Fat cells are not drained by massage, and the effect on fluid is temporary unless the habits that drive the puffiness change, which is why results build with regular sessions. “Detox” is looser still: your liver and kidneys do the detoxifying, and Cleveland Clinic notes that research on eliminating toxins through sweat in an infrared sauna is still in its infancy.

So the fair promise is this: a full-body session that reduces fluid retention and bloating, eases the feeling of heaviness, and leaves many people deeply relaxed.

Planning more than one session

One Full BodyTox can leave you feeling lighter for a while, and results build with consistency. How often to come depends on what you are working toward: a single session before a wedding or holiday is a different plan from a monthly reset for persistent bloating. Our answers on how many Brazilian lymphatic drainage sessions you need and how long the results last go into this. Wear or bring comfortable clothing for afterwards, and plan a quiet rest of the day if you can, since the infrared session is warm and many people want to take it slowly.

Who should not book a full-body session

Cleveland Clinic advises against lymphatic drainage for people with blood clots or deep vein thrombosis, cellulitis, fever, heart disease, infection, kidney failure or a recent stroke. Our page on who should not have Brazilian lymphatic drainage goes into detail.

The included infrared session has its own cautions. Cleveland Clinic suggests skipping infrared saunas if you are pregnant, trying to conceive, have multiple sclerosis, or are unwell. If any of those apply, tell us and we will leave the pod out.

Check with your doctor or surgeon before booking if you:

  • are pregnant (see Brazilian lymphatic drainage while pregnant);
  • had surgery recently, especially liposuction or a tummy tuck;
  • have heart, kidney or liver disease, or take medication for blood pressure or fluid.

Afterwards, some people feel tired, headachy or slightly queasy, which Cleveland Clinic lists as the uncommon side effects of lymphatic massage. Drink water and take it easy for the rest of the day. A calf that becomes painful and swollen, or sudden shortness of breath, needs emergency care, not another massage.

Questions people ask

Is a detox massage the same as lymphatic drainage?

Detox massage is a marketing name, often used for Brazilian lymphatic drainage. What the work does is move fluid through the lymphatic system; your liver and kidneys handle detoxification, and the research on sweating out toxins in a sauna is still in its infancy.

Will a full-body lymphatic massage make me lose weight?

It can lower fluid retention, which may show on the scale or in how clothes fit for a while, but it does not remove fat. If fat loss is your goal, food, movement and your doctor are the right places to start.

Who can I book the Full BodyTox with?

Aisha Mendes, Meeghan Mackenzie and Sasha Bernard all offer it, and you can choose any of them by name in Jane. If you are recovering from surgery or managing swelling, Meeghan or Sasha bring RMT and lymphatic therapy training to the session.

Is the Full BodyTox safe after liposuction or a tummy tuck?

Only with your surgeon's approval, and in the early weeks a post-op lymphatic drainage session is usually the better booking. Tell us your surgery date and procedure and we will point you to the right appointment.
