By The Renu lymphatic and massage team · 5 min read
The Silk Express Facial is a 30-minute, $80 lymphatic facial with esthetician Aisha Mendes at BodyTox by Renu in West Hillhurst. It keeps the core of our Silk & Soul, lymphatic stimulation of the face and neck with cleansing and skincare fundamentals, and leaves out the extractions, mask and body massage. It suits a lunch break, a quick refresh before an event, or upkeep between longer facials.
The Silk Express Facial is our 30-minute lymphatic facial: $80, with Aisha Mendes at BodyTox by Renu. It is the Silk & Soul ritual distilled to its essentials, lymphatic stimulation of the face and neck plus skincare fundamentals, and it starts, like every facial on our menu, with a skin consultation. It is built for the half hour you can actually find in a working day.
What fits into 30 minutes, and what is left out
The Silk Express keeps the parts that most change how your face looks today and drops the parts that need time. Here is how it compares with the 75-minute version:
| Part of the treatment | Silk Express (30 min, $80) | Silk & Soul (75 min, $180) |
|---|---|---|
| Skin consultation | Yes, brief | Yes |
| Cleansing and skincare fundamentals | Yes | Yes, with exfoliation |
| Lymphatic work on face and neck | Yes | Yes, plus scalp and décolleté |
| Gentle extractions | No | Yes |
| Back massage | No | Yes |
| Mask with lower leg and foot massage | No | Yes |
So the trade is simple. You keep the de-puffing and the clean, calm finish. You give up the deep skin work and the long, whole-body rest. If you want extractions or a properly unhurried afternoon, read about the Silk & Soul instead.
When the Silk Express makes sense
It earns its place in a few specific situations:
- A lunch break. Half an hour on the table fits a midday gap, especially if you work nearby and do not need to drive across the city.
- Before an event. A face that looks rested for a dinner, a presentation or photos. Our page on booking a lymphatic facial before a wedding covers timing for the bigger occasions.
- Upkeep between longer facials. Many clients book a lymphatic facial every four to six weeks. Alternating a Silk Express with a longer facial keeps the rhythm without the full cost each time. See how often to get a lymphatic facial for more on spacing.
- Trying lymphatic facial work for the first time without committing to an hour or more.
If you are unsure, our skin quiz asks five quick questions. Time is the strongest signal in it: tell it you have 30 minutes and it points you to the Silk Express.
Adding the cocoon pod
An easy way to stretch a short facial is to add a 20-minute session in the infrared cocoon pod for $25. The pod combines infrared heat, red light, vibration massage, aromatherapy and Himalayan salt air in a private room. A Silk Express plus the pod comes to $105 and roughly an hour of your day.
A few practical points:
- Call ahead to reserve the pod; spots are limited.
- Drink water before and after, because the pod is warm and you will sweat.
- If you have had a peel, Botox or filler recently, check our page on using the infrared pod after a facial peel or Botox before booking the two together.
What a short facial can and cannot change
A 30-minute facial can reduce the puffiness that comes and goes. Cleveland Clinic explains that much under-eye puffiness is fluid collecting in thin tissue, made worse by salty food, short sleep and allergies, and that kind of puffiness responds to gentle drainage, cold and rest. Any reduction can show right away and keep settling over the next 24 to 48 hours.
It cannot change bags that come from fat pads, bone structure or skin laxity, which Cleveland Clinic notes are often inherited. No facial of any length moves those.
There is also the relaxation side. In a small study, 45 minutes of facial massage lowered anxiety and negative mood scores in healthy women. Thirty minutes is shorter than that, so we would not promise the same effect, but most people do leave calmer than they arrived.
Skin can react to any facial. In one survey of salon facials, about a third of women had redness and puffiness for a few hours afterwards. That study involved vigorous massage and steaming, which the Silk Express does not include, but if your skin tends to react, tell Aisha before she starts.
Getting the most out of half an hour
Thirty minutes goes quickly, so a little preparation buys you more time on the table:
- Arrive five minutes early so the consultation does not eat into the treatment.
- Come with a bare or lightly made-up face if you can; less to remove means more time for the lymphatic work.
- Say what you want from today in one sentence: less puffy eyes, a fresher look for tonight, or simply a quiet half hour.
- Mention anything recent, such as Botox, filler, a peel or a new retinoid, so Aisha can adapt without a long discussion.
When to postpone
Reschedule rather than squeezing in a quick facial if you have a cold sore, an active rash or infection on your face, a fever, or a flare of rosacea or eczema. If eye swelling has lasted more than 24 to 48 hours, or comes with pain or a change in vision, Cleveland Clinic advises seeing an eye care professional rather than treating it yourself.

Questions people ask
Can I go straight back to work after a Silk Express?
Most people do. There are no extractions in the Silk Express, so the usual after-effect is a slightly flushed, freshly cleansed face rather than marks. Bring your own makeup if you want to put it back on, and our page on wearing makeup after a facial explains when that is sensible.
Is the Silk Express a good first facial?
It is a low-commitment way to find out whether you like lymphatic facial work and how your skin responds to the products. If you know your skin is congested, start with the Silk & Soul instead, because the Silk Express does not include extractions.
Can I add the infrared cocoon pod to a Silk Express?
Yes. The 20-minute cocoon add-on is $25, which turns a 30-minute facial into roughly an hour-long visit for $105. Call ahead if you can, because the pod has limited spots.
Can two people book Silk Express facials back to back?
Yes, if Aisha has consecutive openings in Jane. Book each person as a separate appointment, one after the other,.
