How much is a lymphatic facial in Calgary

At BodyTox by Renu in West Hillhurst, a lymphatic facial costs $80 for the 30-minute Silk Express, $160 for the 60-minute Drift & Drain, $180 for the 75-minute Silk & Soul and $245 for the 90-minute Brazilian Lymphatic Drift. All four are with Aisha Mendes, a licensed esthetician. Every lymphatic facial at BodyTox by Renu is with Aisha Mendes, a licensed esthetician with a CIDESCO Diploma in Esthetics and a Certified Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage Practitioner. All four begin with a skin consultation.

What the extra minutes buy

Each step up the menu adds more of the body, not just more time on the face.

Silk Express, 30 minutes, $80. Lymphatic stimulation of the face and neck with the skincare fundamentals. It is designed to ease puffiness and bring back your glow in a short gap in a busy day, and it is the simplest way to try a lymphatic facial.

Drift & Drain, 60 minutes, $160. A full upper-body lymphatic sequence through the face, neck and décolleté, followed by a mini facial with cleansing, exfoliation, sculpting massage and cooling cryo gua sha. Silk & Soul, 75 minutes, $180. The most rounded skin treatment: a grounding back massage, cleansing and exfoliation, gentle extractions, and flowing massage of the face, scalp, neck and décolleté. While the mask sets, you have a lower leg and foot massage. Choose it when your skin needs real care and you also want to come out deeply relaxed.

Brazilian Lymphatic Drift, 90 minutes, $245. BodyTox’s most complete facial ritual. It begins with full-body Brazilian lymphatic drainage, flows into upper-body lymphatic work and finishes with the Drift & Drain facial, with vacuum RF therapy along the way. What regular facials cost over a year

The visible de-puffing after a lymphatic facial is mostly a fluid change, so it is strongest in the day or two after your appointment. Many clients rebook every four to six weeks; others come more often before events or travel. At Renu’s prices that looks like this:

What a lymphatic facial can and cannot do for the price

You are paying for gentle work that moves fluid out of a puffy face, careful skincare and a calm hour. You are not paying for a detox. The U.S. National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health found no compelling research supporting detox programs for eliminating toxins, and a facial is no exception.

It also helps to know that some puffiness is simply normal. Cleveland Clinic notes that a puffy face in the morning can be ordinary overnight fluid retention, and that facial swelling is more noticeable with too much or too little sleep. A facial can ease that; it will not change the pattern.

When to see a doctor instead

Facial swelling is not always a skin concern. Cleveland Clinic advises contacting a healthcare provider if swelling is sudden, severe or painful, and going to the emergency department straight away if you have difficulty breathing or feel your throat is swelling, which can be signs of a serious allergic reaction. Cleveland Clinic also lists infection, fever, blood clots, heart disease and kidney failure among the reasons to avoid lymphatic drainage massage. If your face is newly swollen on one side, hot or painful, or you have a fever, see a doctor before booking.

Questions people ask

Which lymphatic facial is the best value?

By the minute, the 75-minute Silk & Soul is the lowest at $2.40, and it includes a back massage and a lower leg and foot massage. Value really depends on what you want, though: for a quick de-puff before work, the $80 Silk Express may be all you need.

Can I claim a lymphatic facial on my health benefits?

Lymphatic facials are esthetic treatments with a licensed esthetician, not massage therapy with a Registered Massage Therapist, and they are receipted as the facial they are. Each benefit plan sets its own list of covered services, so check yours before you count on a claim.

Do lymphatic facial prices include products?

Yes. The skincare used on the table during your facial, from Om Organics of Invermere, BC, is part of the treatment. An Om aftercare kit is one of the optional add-ons if you want to continue at home.

Is the Brazilian Lymphatic Drift the same as a Full BodyTox?

No. The Brazilian Lymphatic Drift is a 90-minute facial at $245 that opens with full-body Brazilian lymphatic drainage, then moves into upper-body lymphatic work and the Drift & Drain facial. The Full BodyTox is a $315 body treatment for the arms, legs, abdomen and face, with back cupping and an infrared cocoon session.
